CMR’s firearms programs are designed to appeal to a full range of amateur/hobby users to professional or expert firearms enthusiasts.
It is distinctly unique for a luxury ranch to offer shooting experiences that range from hand gun ranges to rifle ranges as well as military style weapons starting with AR-15s to AR pistols and leading to super long-range scoped rifles. CMR provides these opportunities in unmatched terrain with target distances starting from 800 yds to over 2 miles and using scenic and breathtaking locations. CMR also boasts an opportunity to shoot a Barrett M82-A1 (50 cal.) on a Humvee that was a veteran of the Iraq war.
CMR also features a twelve-station championship quality sporting-clay course designed by the notable Pete Blakeley, a pre-eminent course designer in the United States. At the end of this course, CMR offers a “dessert” activity named the “Covey Rise” where five clay-throwing machines ejects a myriad of clays randomly and in multiples. This crowd pleaser is most fun for many shooters engaging these “birds” at one time. There is also a trap shooting opportunity by the Teepee Lodge, conveniently located for those interested in another dimension of shotgun shooting.
Equipped with interactive targets set up for both recreation, training and competitions, the ranch is well-suited for hand-gun and rifle shooting for both recreational and vocational guests. CMR's Firearms Wonderland is also suitable for use in professional training and national competitions.
Guests are welcome to book for week-long 6 days/seven nights luxury vacations or for specially designed non-traditional or non-vacation use (eg. professional, instructional or training, special events etc.) in other pre-arranged time frames and costs. This CMR previously unknown paradise for both people and horses offer unprecedented horse-riding and equestrian adventures for all guests. Blessed with incomparable scenic beauty for trail riding from down and along the river canyon to around the magnificent rim of the Encierro Canyon, visitors will experience the thrill of horse riding never experienced before. Inside CMR’s covered arena or outside in other locations of this spectacular ranch, more accomplished riders can find excitement in other disciplines like English cross-country trails and jumping or Western style reining, cutting or barrel-racing or even endurance riding. In addition, CMR offers our guests much more than the common “nose-to-tail” teams of trail riding horses; the ranch houses more than thirty high quality and well-trained horses that include quarter-horses, paints, Gypsy Vanners and Gypsy crosses in order to give guests a range of horse-riding experiences. Those that have been used to working with horses in facilities near cities or in suburbs will find the most liberating thrill in engaging these fantastic animals in a wilderness paradise so pristine yet filled with unexpected luxuries.
Guests are welcome to book for week-long 6 days/seven nights luxury vacations or for specially designed non-vacation use in other pre-arranged time frames.
Bookended by the Firearms Wonderland and the Equestrian Paradise, Canyon Madness Ranch offers a host of other adventures to satisfy most vacationers’ desire.
The size and nature of the ranch’s terrain allow CMR to showcase some of the most adventurous hikes and ATV/UTV rides. Our UTV rides can range from merely scenic to truly thrilling as the trails up and down and around the canyon edge provides challenging trails including some rock-crawling. For those interested in nineteenth century American history, remnants of old homesteads abound together with Indian artifacts like arrowheads and even pottery remnants.
Seasonally, depending on runoff in the Canadian River, CMR can offer river activities like kayaking or canoeing. Although there are many small fishes and crayfish in the waters, significant trout fishing is not a feature at CMR. However, the topography of both the river canyon and the “box” canyon provides some of the most memorable photographic opportunities you can ever imagine.
There are incredible rock cliffs and world-class boulders all around CMR. Our hiking trails promises spectacular canyon views while offering Level 1 to 4 difficulty. While CMR’s bouldering is considered “world-class” by national experts, our sport climbing routes with installed bolts with quick draws and ropes offer only 5.5 to 5.9 levels of difficulty and therefore the most scenic recreational climbing.
Although Canyon Madness Ranch is blessed with a plethora of wildlife, as of this writing, the ranch has not launched a mature hunting program for larger wildlife. For now, CMR promotes shooting our large animals with cameras rather than bullets.
